CUTTACK: An anti-social, Mauryanandan Parida was killed in a drunken brawl at Kalyan Nagar area under Madhupatna police limits late on Thursday. Parida was the son of the Darkhapatna Puja Committee head, Chintamani Parida.Police sources said Mauryanandan alias Nandu entered into a quarrel with a person of the locality after a drinking session in the evening. He began to abuse the person in an inebriated state and even threatened the family in front of their house. The tiff between the two soon turned violent and in the heat of the moment, the youth under target got a scissor and attacked him.Parida sustained serious injuries and succumbed on the spot. Police rushed to the spot and took the youth into custody. The body of Parida has been seized.Police sources said, Parida had gained notoriety for his violent behaviour along with other criminal activities. He had several criminal cases pending against him. He had been arrested and released on bail only a month back.
