Bangalore: It’s a lazy afternoon in Bangalore and instead of going to the mall or seeing a movie techies are watching their favourite leader speak on you tube. Meet the Obamaniacs of Bangalore.
For four long months these techies have been supporting Obama in road rallies, and have even managed to collect over rupees two lakh as donation for the Democrat Party.
“He is very dynamic, energetic and he is a leader who believes in change,” says an Obama fan.
“I feel he will keep up his promises,” adds another
For young people its not LK Advani or Rahul Gandhi that have caught their imagination but its Barack Obama that they believe in. And they believe that its campaigns that will help him win his race to the white house.
“We campaigning here will certainly influence the Indians in US to vote for Obama,” says an Obama fan, Bala.
But ask them if they'd show the same passion for an Indian leader, and the answer is…
“Not at all... but Rahul Gandhi to some extent,” says a techie.
The youngsters are out to support a man they probably never heard of before the US presidential race began but behind their almost eccentric display of adulation, lies a small hope that Obama can solve the economic crisis in the US something that directly affects the IT industry in Bangalore.
