CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government has transferred complaints on the controversial Nithyananda issue to the Crime Branch of the Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID)on Wednesday for investigation.Tamil film actor, Ranjitha, involved in the controversy after Sun TV telecast video footages of her in compromising position with godman Nithyananda, recently filed a complaint with the city police seeking action against Sun TV network. She also claimed that the pictures telecast were morphed.Many Hindu outfits have also filed complaints against Nithyananda. All the cases have been transferred to the CB-CID.Chain snatchingSeveral incidents of c from women were reported from across the city and suburbs.In Kolathur, N Vasantha (55), who works as an ayah at the Kilpauk medical college hospital, was returning to her house at Akbar Square, when two persons on a motorbike stopped near her and asked for directions. Suddenly, a churidhar-clad woman sitting on the pillion snatched her 10-sovereign gold chain on Sivan Koil Street and both escaped. At Sembakkam, near Tambaram, Lakshmi (24) was on her way to a local shop, when two on a bike snatched her two-sovereign gold chain and fled. In another incident, Parvathi (45) of Ganesh Nagar at Selaiyur was walking to a nearby temple when her gold chain was snatched by bike riders. Baghyalakshmi of Solomon Street in Tambaram East was returning from the market, when men on bike snatched her 2.5 sovereign gold chain. Goondas ActA 23-year-old youth, who had several cases of robbery and chain snatching against him, was arrested and booked under the Goondas Act. Ramesh of Anthony Nagar and Lokesh of Andhra Pradesh were arrested during vehicle check on Periyapalayathamman Road.
