New Delhi: A new study reveals a preventative benefit of the human papillomavirus vaccine.
The human papillomavirus vaccine helps prevent lesions that can lead to cancer, a new study in the Lancet finds.
Researchers studied more than 18,000 women between the age 16 and 26 in 24 countries. Some got the Vaccine, some a placebo.
The women were followed for three years. The vaccine was effective in 71 per cent of women who were previously exposed to the HPV virus, and 100 per cent in those who in those who have not been exposed.
Researchers say there was a 49 per cent reduction in Vulval and vaginal lesions. They say the vaccine could help reduce the number of women getting sick and cut health care costs and death rates.
Babies born prematurely and at low birth weights are at greater risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes and high blood pressure by the time they reach their 20's according to a new study in the new England of Journal Of Medicine.
Researchers compared more than 330 young adults ages 18-27, about half had low birth weights the others were born at term & of average weight.
The study found those born between 24 and 35 weeks as low birth weights had higher blood sugar levels & higher blood pressure rates.
