Nellore train accident: Returning from a betrothal was Shalinis last journey

Death came all of a sudden and unannounced for Hyderabad- based 23 year-old D Shalini, a resident of Srinivasa Nagar in AS Rao Nagar as her journey to Chennai on the Tamil Nadu Express on July 30 became her last voyage.

On her way back from a friend’s engagement in Karimnagar district on last Saturday, Shalini a software engineer working in Chennai for about a year, boarded the ill-fated  coach S-11 (PNR Number 213-7474834/Berth No.2). Shalini was travelling along with two of her friends   Y Prashanthi (23, Berth No.3) and T Sindhu (22, Berth No.4) _ who are said to be safe.

Her relatives told Express that Shalini had gone to Karimnagar to attend the engagement of a friend of hers on Friday. After attending the function, she left Karimnagar for Warangal by road to catch the Tamil Nadu Express at around 8.50 pm on Sunday. She was to report for the duty in her Chennai office on Monday (July 30).

Shalini’s father, Hanumanth Reddy, is a businessman and hails from Kondapaka in Medak district. The family had migrated to Hyderabad a few years ago and is residing at Srinivasa Nagar in AS Rao Nagar in Kapra near ECIL. Shalini was younger of his two daughters.

Shalini’s parents came to know about the ghastly incident through TV news channels in the morning. When they tried to contacted her on her mobile, there was no response.

TV news made no mention of her name. She figured neither in the list of the dead or hospitalised. Apprehending that something was wrong with their daughter, they rushed to Nellore. Reddy’s neighbours here visited his house to express their sympathy. The house now looks deserted as the family members rushed to Nellore.
