New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has said that the 33rd National Games will be held in Guwahati as per schedule from February 9 to 18.
He has said that he is going to initiate action against the General Secretary of Assam Olympic Association, Mukut Medhi.
The Chief Minister, who is the President of Assam Olympic Association had said at a press meet on Tuesday, "People should ignore comments from a section, guided by ULFA, which is raising questions about safety of the event."
He said this in reponse to Medhi's statement in an interview - "Assam Olympic Association was not in a position to assure the security of sportspersons participating in the 33rd National Games."
Concerns about the security aspect had also been raised by the Peoples' Consultative Group (PCG) in the backdrop of the recent series of killings by the ULFA.
Sources have also told CNN-IBN that the ULFA is reconsidering its boycott call of 33rd National Games.
Gogoi also rubbished reports that games equipment had not arrived.
"Our equipment have arrived and only few of them which has already reached the country will arrive by this month-end", he said.
