Mumbai: Last week, as Austria’s “monster dad” Josef Fritzl – sentenced to life for raping his daughter - was being convicted, a similar horror story was reported from India.
Two Mumbai girls were allegedly raped by their father, on the advice of a tantrik - one of whom suffered the torment for nine years before confiding in her grandmother and uncle who told the police.
Speaking with CNN-IBN, one of the victims – the elder among the two – recalled the horror. “The abuse started when I was quite young. The tantrik and my dad forced themselves on me, usually after spiking my glass of water. I protested a lot but they said I would ruin the family if I refused. They also blackmailed me emotionally,” she said.
The victim also said she wanted her tormentors hanged. “After, me they targeted my sister and she told me what happened with her. My mother was forced into doing what my father and the tantrik said. But while it is true that she was forced, there is some involvement on her part as well. I hope my father and the tantrik get hanged for what they have done or at least be sentenced to life imprisonment. There can be no other punishment for what they have done,” she said.
Investigations reveal that the victim’s Internet friend - who lived in the vicinity - played a pivotal role in helping her gather the courage to blow the lid off the sordid saga.
