Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) today asked shopkeepers in the city to change the signboards of their establishments in Marathi by Sunday.
A group of local MNS activists moved along the main streets and contacted the shopkeepers, giving them an "ultimatum" on the Marathi signboard issue.
"We have informed them (traders) about our party's stand on the Marathi signboard issue and wish they understand us in the right spirit," an MNS spokesperson said here.
MNS chief Raj Thackeray is currently on Vidarbha tour and is scheduled to visit Yavatmal on September 21.
The ultimatum for changing the signboards in Marathi is part of the preparation for Raj's visit to the city.
The traders, however, appeared unaffected by the call as they have neither made any decision public till now nor given indication about complying with the ultimatum.
There is very little presence of the two-year-old MNS in the city.
