BALASORE: Members of Samrudha Odisha and Rajya Adivasi Harijan Kalyan Samiti (RAHKS) have accused Remuna MLA Sudarshan Jena of submitting a fake caste certificate to contest the Assembly poll. District president of Samrudha Odisha Rabinarayan Sethi and RAHKS president Damodar Das alleged that Jena had produced a fake caste certificate to contest the Assembly poll from the SC reserved constituency. Sethi has filed a writ petition in the High Court alleging Jena of producing fake caste certificate to become a legislator. “Earlier, Das had written to the Chief Election Commissioner and National Commission for SC and ST demanding a probe. But when the two government agencies did not take any action, I filed a writ petition seeking an independent inquiry,” Sethi said. The leader alleged as per the land records, Jena is Kuduma by caste, but in the affidavit produced during the filing of nomination papers he had claimed himself as Kandara which has SC tag. “Jena has since 1983 been enjoying benefits meant for the SCs by claiming himself as Kandara by caste. He had also contested the Zilla Parishad election in 1997 by producing fake caste certificate and won from a SC seat,” Sethi said. Jena, however, rubbished the allegation and said it is a political gimmick by his rivals.
