MK faults cops for poor policing on Pongal

CHENNAI: DMK chief M Karunanidhi faulted the State police for its poor policing which turned out to be the Pongal gift for criminals during Pongal celebrations. In a release, Karunanidhi recounted robberies reported in the Chennai as reported in the media after Pongal.“Is this celebration enough for Pongal?” he said. Regarding the relief measures accorded to Thane-affected people, Karunanidhi said that relief measures did not reach the actual beneficiaries as announced by the State.Due to the vague announcements of the District Administrations pertaining to the relief accorded to the damaged houses, Karunanidhi claimed that the Rs 5,000 announced was not paid in full to the beneficiaries and several didn’t get even a portion of the relief they were entitled to, he said, referring to media reports.
