Fans of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister late M G Ramachandran (MGR), on Saturday appeared agitated, as the election officials tore the posters of his hit film 'Aayirathil Oruvan' in Coimbatore, to comply with election code of conduct.

Fans of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister late M G Ramachandran (MGR), on Saturday appeared agitated, as the election officials tore the posters of his hit film 'Aayirathil Oruvan' in Coimbatore, to comply with election code of conduct.

The 40-year-old film, starring MGR and present Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was a big hit and attraction even on Saturday and the digital version was on show at a theatre near the District Collectorate.

Claiming that the posters pasted at public places amounted to violating election code, since Jayalalithaa was acting in it, election officials said that there were following the instructions from the higher up and not showing any disrespect to MGR.

Since the threatre was situated near railway station, a large number of taxi and auto rickshaw drivers, expressed their resentment over the action of officials in tearing the posters in public, which they claimed as a disrespect to the former Chief Minsiter.
