CHENNAI: Residents of Anna Nagar and Indra Nagar can now heave a sigh of relief as Metro Water has installed two kiosks at their respective office premises to facilitate paying water tax and charges. Metro Water Managing Director Dr K Gopal said that the taxes and charges payable to Metro Water were being remitted so far at depot office and area offices. Now, the kiosks have been introduced and installed as a pilot project for the convenience of the public, he added. The kiosks are located at area office-V, No 227, second avenue, 12th main road, Anna Nagar and area office-X, No 42, first Main Road, Indra Nagar. Payments can be made for any property in Chennai and the people can use the kiosk to know their due tax and charges payable to Metro Water. The kiosks will function round-the-clock and the consumers can pay at their convenience. They can also get a receipt along with a scanned copy of the cheque and payment details. When a payment gets made, it will be updated immediately on the website and the board’s server. The kiosk machine is similar to an ATM and even a step-by-step guidance tool will appear on the screen, both in English and Tamil.
