Follow us:WhatsappFacebookTwitterTelegram.cls-1{fill:#4d4d4d;}.cls-2{fill:#fff;}Google NewsThe High Court on Monday asked the state government to fix an annual fee of Rs 42,300 per student for MBA and MCA courses subject to the condition that the colleges concerned have to file affidavits before the court registry to the effect that they are already implementing the 1996 pay scales. The AFRC (Admission & Fee Regulatory Committee) shall be free to fix the fees as per norms being followed by it for the colleges which have not complied with the above direction. The direction was given by justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy on Monday while dealing with a writ petition filed by the AP Private Engineering colleges and some educational institutions which apprehended that the government and the AFRC were likely to fix a reduced fee of about Rs 27,000 for the academic year 2012-13. Petitioners’ counsel S Niranjan Reddy submitted that his clients would furnish all details to the AFRC within a one week justifying the fees being charged by them. They have already filed affidavits before the registry to the effect that they have been paying the 1996 pay scales to the teaching staff. AFRC standing counsel C Sudesh Anand informed the judge that the court had recently directed the government to notify the average fees subject to the right of AFRC to consider the details to be furnished by the colleges therein and reduce the fee if it was not satisfied. Justice Nagarjuna Reddy passed an interim order, directing the petitioners and other colleges to file their affidavits before the court registry on or before September 5 and to furnish details to AFRC within a week thereafter. In the case of colleges which have complied with the above direction, the state government shall fix Rs 42,300 as the average of the fees charged for A and B category seats in 2011-12. The fee shall be subject to revision by the AFRC on the basis of material filed by the colleges. The judge posted the matter for hearing to October 1 to facilitate the standing counsel to file a counter affidavit.first published:September 04, 2012, 11:22 ISTlast updated:September 04, 2012, 11:22 IST
