TRIPUNITHURA: A person was killed and more than 15 people were injured when two private buses collided head-on at Chalakkapara, near Kanjiramattom, on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Ansar, 40, an auto driver who is a native of Chalakkapara.Ansar’s daughter Ansila, 10, lost her arm in the accident and his wife Seleena and son Askar sustained serious injuries. They have been admitted in private hospitals in Kochi.According to the Mulanthuruthy Police, the accident occured around 5.45 pm while one bus tried to overtake another vehicle. Under the impact of the collision, the other bus skidded off the road and rammed into Ansar’s autorickshaw parked in front of a shop. The bus then smashed into the shop, trapping Ansar and family. Many passengers in the buses were also injured in the accident and were taken to nearby hospitals.
