CHENNAI: A 31-year-old man from MKB Nagar, who informed his estranged wife four days back that his life was under threat from his family members, died in a private hospital on Saturday. Police said that the preliminary post mortem report revealed that the man died of cardiac arrest and that they would probe further. Police said Datchyani (23) of Vellore and Srinivasan (31) of MKB Nagar, Vyasarpadi got married in 2009. The woman left her husband last month after she allegedly suffered from sexual harassment from her father-in-law, for which she lodged a complaint on December 28, police said.On January 9, Srinivasan had allegedly called up his wife over phone and told her that his parents were asking him to marry another woman and that they had even threatened him. The woman had then lodged a complaint with the police about her husband. Police said when they questioned Srinivasan’s father, he had said that his son had gone out of station and would return soon. Police sources said on Saturday, the woman lodged a complaint with the city police commissioner suspecting foul play in her husband’s death, after she heard through a relative that her husband was admitted to hospital since January 9 and died on Saturday morning.MKB Nagar police, who registered a case under section 174 (unnatural death) of CrPC, said that the preliminary post mortem report revealed that he died of cardiac arrest and a detailed probe would be conducted after getting the detailed post mortem report.
