BANGALORE: 41-year-old Muniappa, an agriculturalist from Bagalgunte succumbed to H1N1 at Columbia Asia Hospital, Yeshwantpur, on Sunday evening.According to Shanta Kumari, sister-inlaw of the deceased, also the corporator of Moodalpalya, Muniappa was suffering from fever for the past one week and was admitted to Sanjeevani Hospital at Bagalgunte.“There were no signs of improvement, and eventually he developed breathing difficulty.He was later admitted to Suguna Hospital where doctors confirmed that Muniappa was suffering from H1N1.Since the hospital did not have the facility to treat H1N1 patients, he was referred to Columbia Asia Hospital.” she added.Muniappa was admitted to Columbia Asia on Saturday, and on Sunday around 3.30 pm he died.Kumari added, “The area where Muniappa resided is close to a sanitary pipe which is connected to the drainage and a heap of garbage remains collected.Mosquito menace is seen throughout the year.”
