PALAKKAD: A 30-year-old man hailing from Chengannur was arrested by the Palakkad Railway police on a charge of outraging the modesty of a 22-year-old girl hailing from Kallekulangara near here while travelling on the Island Express from Bangalore. Later, the man was produced in the Palakkad First Class Judicial Magistrate Court No 3 and was granted bail. The railway police said that since the incident occurred between Salem and Erode, the case will be handed over to the Erode police.The man was travelling along with his family. While the family was in one coupe, the youth and the girl were in another section, the railway police said. Though the girl had complained at the Erode station that the man touched her, a case was not registered there. After the train reached the Palakkad station, the case was registered there. The version of the man was that he wanted to take his luggage from the upper berth when accidentally his hand touched the girl.
