The man identified as Ramu Chavan has been arrested by the police. He was spotted walking with his wife's head and the axe used to behead her in Pune's Katraj area.
He severed the head and walked with it for a distance in full view of panic-stricken people. Two policemen tried to take away the axe allegedly used to behead the woman.
A case has been registered at the Bharti Vidyapeeth police station in Pune. Police are investigating the case and interrogating the man.
