The M K Nambiar Endowment instituted at the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) by K K Venugopal, senior advocate, Supreme Court, will be inaugurated by Justice K S Radhakrishnan, Supreme Court judge, at 10 am on Saturday at the NUALS Auditorium, Kalamassery.
The endowment aims to organise law lectures by eminent jurists on topics of contemporary relevance, to award the M K Nambiar Gold Medal in Public Law to the student securing the highest marks in the Constitutional Law and Administrative Law in BA LLB (Hons) degree examination in NUALS, to help deserving students of NUALS who are economically backward to complete their legal education and to subsidise the travel expenses of meritorious students of NUALS who have been selected to represent the country in international moot court contests.
Justice Manjula Chellur, Acting Chief Justice, High Court of Kerala, and Chancellor of NUALS, will preside over the function.
Christopher Forsyth, professor of Public Law and Private International Law, University of Cambridge, will deliver the first M K Nambiar Law Lecture series on the ‘Province of Legitimate Expectation Redefined’.
The endowment, which carries a corpus of `50 lakh, has been instituted by K K Venugopal in the name of his father Barrister M K Nambiar.
