BANGALORE: Commenting on the article ‘Regulate Rogue Doctors’ published in The New Indian Express on May 21, Dr V S Acharya, Minister for Higher Education, said that this is an uncharitable claim.Addressing the media on Tuesday, Acharya said, “Ever since independence, there has been improvement in the field of education and health in the country. There might be loopholes here and there but that cannot be generalised.” Defending the healthcare system in India N Kumar, a medical enthusiast, said that patients from foreign countries are turning to India for advanced surgical procedures.“Every year, patients from abroad are increasing by about 15 per cent. The medical system in a few developed nations would be paralysed if India does not supply healthcare services,” he added. “As per various published articles, about 50 per cent of people living with AIDS in the world depend on Indian generics", he further said.
