Cumbum police have arrested a loan shark who tried to usurp a house in the guise of retrieving a loan given two years ago.
According to Soundarya (25), her husband Sivasamy borrowed Rs 20,000 from N Jeyaraj two years ago. But Jayaraj reportedly claimed that Sivasamy has to return Rs 1,50,000. He further went on to get Sivasamy sign the documents to usurp the house belonging to Sivasamy. An aggrieved Soundarya gave a complaint to Theni Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar Abinapu on Saturday, who directed Cumbum North Police Inspector to take immediate actions.
Based on the SP’s directions, the inspector booked Jeyaraj under Tamil Nadu’s ‘Kandhu Vatti’ Abolition Special Act and returned Sivasamy’s house to his family. Similarly, police in Cumbum South station arrested five persons based on a complaint filed by P Easwari, the wife of a hotel owner.
Complaints have been registered against fifteen persons and five persons have been arrested.
The others have obtained anticipatory bails.
