Liquor shops in Delhi will remain closed on national holidays in October and November, as per an official notification by the Excise Department. Other than the national holidays, the sale of liquor in the national capital would also be prohibited on October 8, and for some hours from October 3 until October 5.
“In pursuance of the provisions of Rule 52 of Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, it is hereby ordered that the following dates shall be observed as “Dry Days” in the National Capital Territory of Delhi,” the excise department’s notification dated September 19 stated.
DRY DAYS IN DELHI – OCTOBER
Below will be observed as dry days in Delhi in the month of October.
October 2 – Gandhi Jayanti
October 5 – Election-related
October 8 – Vote counting for Haryana assembly elections
October 12 – Dussehra
October 17 – Valmiki Jayanti
October 31 – Deepawali
According to the notification, dry days will be observed before 48 hours of the end of polling, i.e. from 6.00 pm on October 3 until 6.00 pm on October 5.
DRY DAYS IN DELHI – NOVEMBER
November 15 – Guru Nanak Gurpurab
November 24 – Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day
“The restriction of the sale of liquor on dry days shall not apply to the service of liquor to residents in case of hotels having L-15 and L-15F license,” the Excise Department’s notification stated.
