The Ernakulam District Resident’s Association Apex Council (EDRAAC) will take out a protest march to the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) office at Panampilly Nagar on Thursday.
The march is in protest against the decision taken by the oil companies to deny customers the option to transfer cooking gas connections from one company to the other.
EDRAAC general secretary A Ajithkumar said though many consumers wished to transfer their LPG connections from Indian Oil Corporation, the company had denied their request.
“Earlier, we had an option to transfer the gas connection and a decision in this regard was taken at a meeting convened by the District Collector and the oil company.
Though many Indane agencies in the city have been receiving 10-15 transfer requests, there has been no response so far,” he said. Ajithkumar added that though the oil company officials agreed at the meeting to distribute cylinders within 21 days, they have failed to do so.
“The IOC agencies lack sufficient stock and its bottling plant at Udayamperoor is not working properly,” he added.
