New Delhi: Lashkar-e-Toiba has undergone a major overhaul with its command in Jammu and Kashmir changing hands.
The Pakistan-based terror group has new commanders taking over its operations in the terror-hit state following the arrests of Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi, Zarar Shah, Yousuf Muzammil, Ahmad Bhai and a few others.
Lakhvi, Shah and others leaders have been detained by Pakistan in connection with the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
All the new commanders are Pakistani nationals who have operated in the Kashmir Valley over the last decade.
Indian intelligence sources say those reported to have taken charge now are all men who have operated inside the Kashmir Valley in the past and include Shahji, Hyder Bhayee, Huzefa and Walid.
The new commanders are likely to focus on the Valley and the Doda-Rajouri-Poonch belt in Jammu. Shahji has been reported to be active in the Valley till 2007 while Hyder left the Kashmir in 2006.
Intelligence sources also say suicide attacks in the Valley dropped sharply after Hyder left.
All the 10 terrorists who attacked Mumbai were trained in Pakistan with India accusing Lashkar-e-Taiba of planning and executing the entire operation.
Mumbai Police in the chargesheet filed before metropolitan magistrate MJ Mirza at the Qila Court in the city have claimed that the marine wing of Lashkar-e-Toiba carried out the attacks.
Lashkar-e-Toiba operatives wanted in the Mumbai terror attack case are Rehman Lakhvi, Zarar Shah and Abu Qama.
Nearly 200 people were killed during the almost three-day long Mumbai terror attacks by the Pakistani terrorists in November 2008.
