LDF asks Governor to oust VC and friends

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A delegation of LDF leaders led by Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan on Thursday met Governor H R Bharadwaj seeking the removal of the Calicut University Vice-Chancellor, pro-Vice- Chancellor and nominated Syndicate members from their posts for their alleged role in the move to gift university land to private trusts.Achuthanandan accompanied by LDF constituent party leaders C Divakaran, Kadannappally Ramachandran, A K Sashindran, P C Thomas and A A Aziz met the Governor and apprised him of the move of the university to gift its land for projects by private trusts, violating guidelines.Achuthanandan said that they had briefed the Governor about the move to gift the land.The Governor assured them that he would not allow any kind of transactions by the university which were against the university’s legal stipulations and statutes.He also said that the Governor had sought a report from the government.
