THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government on Monday decided to execute the Kochi Metro Rail project through CentreStatePublic participation.
For the purpose, the state government also decided to sanction Rs 159 crore.The decision was taken at a highlevel meeting convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here.
It was decided to implement the Metro project on the lines of the Chennai model and the District Collector has been entrusted with the task of handing over the necessary land at the earliest for the work to begin.The North overbridge will be demolished first and the shops under the bridge will be relocated before the demolition begins.It was also decided to construct several rail over bridges. The District Collector has been asked to convene a meeting of the people's representatives before commencing the rehabilitation work.
