Kerala: Two arrested over techie's rape at a resort
The police stated that the duo spoke in Malayalam during the crime to mislead the survivor.

Thiruvananthapuram: Two contract workers, Presonagam and Lucky Nath, at the Poovar Island Resort have been arrested and are being questioned in connection with the alleged rape of a 40-year-old IT Professional from Bangalore. The two are members of the contract staff who comes to the hotel for cleaning and pest control.

The duo has been charged under section 376 D, for gang rape. Two of them have several nail marks on their body.

Presonagam was working at the resort for the past two years and Lucky Nath was working there for past two months. The police stated that the duo spoke in Malayalam during the crime to mislead the survivor.

Two other room boys were under surveillance on Monday and their role was ruled out after forensic results of hair samples. The police received a lead while checking an album that had photos of all the staff.

They had received a bracelet from the crime scene and one of the suspects was spotted wearing the same bracelet in the photos.

The woman had come to the resort with a group of colleagues as part of an official trip. She was allegedly assaulted early on Friday morning. According to her complaint the two men were not known to her.

According to her complaint with police, two unidentified persons entered her room at around 2.30 AM. While one of them restrained her, the other man raped her. The woman suffered injuries during the assault and was in a traumatised state after the incident. She made a complaint to the police the next evening.
