BANGALORE: Angered by the Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri's statement on the teaching of Bhagwad Gita in primary, secondary and high schools, the State Minorities Educational Institutions Management Federation met Governor H Bharadwaj on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum regarding the issue.Kageri had said that if people do not want to follow the Bhagwad Gita in the schools they should leave the country immediately."The minister has to maintain sovereignty and integrity. By making such a statement he has breached the oath of office," said Imitiaz Ahmed, Chairman of the Karnataka State Minorities Educational Institutions Management Federation, Bangalore.Ahmed said that Governor told them that the memorandum would be sent to the president and the prime minister. They said the teaching of the Bhagavad Gita to students is contrary to the rights guaranteed under the Articles 29 and 30 of the Constitution of India.
