Mumbai: Private carrier Jet Airways on Wednesday launched a direct flight service to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport from which offers passengers greater connectivity and seamless travel to Europe via the French capital.
To begin with, the new flight will be operated four days a week but it will be converted into a daily service from June 26, the airline said in a release. "With the new direct flight and our recently expanded code share partnership, Jet Airways will now be able to offer its guests unmatched connectivity and seamless travel from India to Europe via Paris," Jet Airways senior vice president, commercial, Gaurang Shetty said.
"Our code share agreement with Air France, which the airline expanded recently, is another distinctive travel solution, as it will offer guests access to over 23 major cities across Europe," he said.
The expanded agreement provides for enhanced network connectivity to passengers to 12 major cities across Europe and the UK. Code share is a commercial agreement between two or more airlines that share the same flight, with all partners able to sell seats on that flight.
As per the new expanded code share, both carriers will place their marketing codes on each other's flights on the Mumbai-Paris trunk route, the release said. This will leave guests with a choice of a dual frequency as an additional schedule option, offering convenient timings by providing a morning and evening departure and arrival at both the destinations. This codeshare is already open for sale for travel from May 25, the airline said.
With the expanded pact, Jet Airways passengers now have seamless connectivity to Nice, Lyon, Marseille and Toulouse in France, Barcelona and Madrid in Spain, Hamburg in Germany, Prague in the Czech Republic, Dublin in Ireland and Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle in the UK.
"Our extensive network will offer unparallelled access to over 23 key destinations in Europe providing another tangible benefit for customers of both airlines. This move of dual departure and arrival options will also improve our offer for our leisure as well as corporate travellers," Air France-KLM senior vice president for Middle-East Gulf and India Tjalling Smit said.
Both the airlines can look forward to the mutual strengthening of potential markets through Jet Airways' extensive route network into India and through Air France KLM's strong network in Europe, he said.
