"ISKCON has been dragged into the whole controversy unnecessarily. It is maintained by Hare Krishna Movement which has no relation with ISKCON," he said.Das said the Hare Krishna Movement is run by Madhu Pandit Das who was the president of ISKCON- Bangalore in 2000. "ISKCON had urged the YS Rajasekhara Reddy government from allowing these people (the Hare Krishna Movement) not to give the property but our representations fell on deaf ears. Now a minister is anchoring an agitation against them," he said.Madhu Pandit Das left ISKCON-Bangalore in 2000 and started the Hare Krishna Movement in south India. "From then on, he has been taking lands from the Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh governments using ISKCON's name. When he was the president of ISKCON, Madhu Pandit Das tried to indulge in forgery and misappropriating books of records. A case against him is pending in the Supreme Court," he said.
