Indo-Pak talks: Krishna meets Punjab CM, Governor
On Saturday, SM Krishna met his Pak counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar and the two signed the much-awaited liberalised visa agreement.

New Delhi: Indian External Affairs Minister SM Krishna met Punjab Governor Latif Khosa and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday. Upon his arrival in Lahore, Krishna said, "Well, all this is going to help foster a much more cordial relationship between our two countries."

"It is my earnest desire and the desire of Dr Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India, and the people of India that we would like to see a stable, peaceful, progressive Pakistan as our neighbour because that will mean quite a bit to the entire region," he added.

Krishna visited the Minar-e Pakistan and the Data Darbar sufi shrine ahead of his meet.

On Saturday, Krishna met his Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar and the two signed the much-awaited liberalised visa agreement.

Pakistan has so far been non-committal over issues like the 26/11 trial, Kashmir dispute and Sarabjit Singh, an Indian prisoner who has been languishing in a Lahore jail for over 20 years. Krishna, however, told reporters on Sunday that Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari had taken up Sarabjit's issue "very seriously".

Pakistan has also agreed to release 53 Indian fishermen on Tuesday, sources said.

Krishna's visit ends on Sunday.
