New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that a thunderstorm would hit the Delhi-NCR late on Saturday night.
The weather department also warned of a thunderstorm, with squall and winds with speeds up to 70 kmph, to hit parts of western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan till Sunday morning.
The western UP areas likely to be affected are Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Aligarh, Gautambudh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Etah, Badaun, Ghaziabad districts and adjoining areas.
Adding to this was the likelihood of heavy rainfall at isolated places over Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura, south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
A thunderstorm accompanied with squall winds were also very likely at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.
On May 17, gusty winds with a speed of up to 71 kmph coupled with light rain had swept across the national capital.
An 18-year-old man was killed and 13 people were injured in the dust storm that hit Delhi in the early hours of May 16.
Four days earlier, at least 51 people were killed and 83 others injured in a severe storm that hit parts of Uttar Pradesh.
The worst of the tragedies was on May 2-3, when thunderstorms and lightning killed 134 people and injured over 400 in UP, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttarakhand and Punjab. UP was the worst affected, accounting for 80 deaths, most of them in Agra district in the western part of the state.
