BANGALORE: The Lokayukta has decided to submit the report on the Rs 300 crore Belikeri port iron ore scam to the government and include it in the final report on illegal mining.Details on port officials, transport companies, forest officials and others will be mentioned in the report. An officer with the Lokayukta told Express that though the Belikeri iron ore case was investigated separately by the Lokayukta, it has a strong link with the illegal mining in Bellary. "The Belikeri scam is small compared to the illegal mining scam and hence we decided to include it in the final report of illegal mining with a lot of evidence," he said.Meanwhile, according to sources, the Lokayukta, in the final report, will focus on how, even after it submitted its first report on iron ore transportation to China and though Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa banned iron ore transportation in the state, ore was being transported to China through the east coast.Lokayukta officials are working overtime to give final touches to the report that will be submitted within two weeks and will have details of "big" names involved in illegal mining, he added."Our officers visited many ports on the east coast and seized documents related to illegal iron ore exports to China from Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Krishnapatnam and Ennore in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Earlier, exports were being done from Mangalore, Karwar, Belikeri and Goa," an officer said. "Powerful politicians from the Bellary region with a stranglehold on the present government are transporting iron ore through the east coast," he added.
