BHUBANESWAR: Suspended Rajya Sabha member Pyarimohan Mohapatra, who described Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik a ‘traitor’ on Friday, said he would go to people and party workers over the issue of his suspension.Alleging that a group in the BJD had conspired to oust him from the party, Pyari said the plan was made three months back in New Delhi. ‘’But I will not remain silent,’’ a belligerent Pyari warned after his suspension from the party. Not revealing names of the persons, who conspired against him, Pyari said the Chief Minister had now come under the clutches of the group. He warned that they would soon oust Naveen from power.“Naveen announced my suspension under the pressure of this particular group of conspirators, but people in general, and the party workers in particular, know who actually shed sweat for making BJD,” he said.Pyari said in 2000, BJD had a membership of 10,000 only. But now it has a membership of 27 lakh because of the efforts of the workers inspired by him, he said. Stating that he was severely ‘hurt’ over the suspension from the party, Pyari said it was really painful to be suspended from the party for which he worked day and night.“I drank all poison and never allowed him (Naveen) to feel the pain of politics. Now that I am out, he will understand the complexities of politics,” he said. The bureaucrat-turned-politician said he was the person who built the BJD ‘brick by brick’ and made it a successful regional party in the country. Replying to a question, Pyari said he would not quit the BJD as expected by the ‘conspirators’. He too rejected the idea of joining any other political party. “Why should I quit the party which has been built by me,” he asked. On the Chief Minister, Pyari said he (Naveen) had made himself vulnerable due to wrong advice from certain leaders who conspired against him (Pyari). “The group has won the first round by making Naveen announce my suspension. Later they will unseat Naveen,” Pyari said.“Naveen was made to understand by the conspirators that I would replace him. They said this after party achieved success in Umerkote byelection and got overwhelming majority in panchayat polls,” Pyari claimed.Refuting the allegation that he was the person who attempted to topple Naveen’s Government, Pyari said he had all along been a shield for the Chief Minister and the party. “The party MLAs, who claimed that there was a move to topple the Government by me, had, in fact, been tutored by the conspirators,” he said.Pyari, however, said he would give a befitting reply to Naveen after receiving the suspension order and seeing the charges. “My reply will be difficult for Naveen to handle,” he said.
