THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Housing Board (KSHB) will construct ‘Green Buildings’ at Ambalanagar. And, two ongoing projects of the KSHB in the city are expected to be completed in a time-bound manner, Housing Minister has K M Mani said. Replying to questions in the Assembly on Monday, he said that the project would come up on KSHB land. An amount of Rs 2 crore was earmarked in the 2011-12 Budget for the project. Twenty-four flats will be constructed in the second phase of the Innovative Housing Scheme at Poojappura. The project is expected to be completed by January 2012. Another project, ‘Kowdiar Heights’, will be completed by 2013, Mani said.Stench from sea Steps will be taken to educate people on the coasts on the reasons for the stench emanating from the sea, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the Assembly on Monday. The Chief Minister said in a written reply that according to the Centre for Earth Science Studies, the stench, which triggered panic in the coast recently, was caused by Dimethyl sulphide, which is produced following an increase in the presence of minute algae. Sudden rains and the influx of freshwater into the coastal waters triggered this phenomenon, the Chief Minister said.
