Accompanied by the chanting of ancient hymns and the fragrance of incense sticks, two Czech citizens will embrace Hinduism by donning the sacred thread at Advaita Ashram near Kolathoor here on Tuesday.
Dr Michael Blazej and Martin Marek will embrace the oldest religion in the world at a ceremony to be held early in the morning under the supervision of religious acharyas. From his youth days itself, Dr Michael Blazej, 37, a medical practitioner in Prague, has been keeping touch with Indian spiritual thoughts and Vedas. Martin Marek, 44, a kindergarten teacher, also has been following Hinduism and its preachings for 15 years.
The duo are ardent acolytes of Sathya Sai Baba and active members of Veda Union in Prague, which embarked upon promoting unity, love and peace among all through the teachings of the Vedas and recitation of sacred Vedic hymns in Europe. Both the Czechs are vegetarians too and abstain from alcohol, smoking and drugs.
The Sanskrit classes under retired IAS officer V Vijaya Chandran in Prague have drawn them close to Advaita Ashram here and Swami Chidanandapuri, main pontiff of the ashram.
