New Delhi: Mahesh Bhupathi and his Czech partner Radek Stepanek have reached the semi-finals of the French Open men's doubles. The Indo-Czech pair beat second seeds Jonas Bjorkman and Max Mirnyi in three sets to advance to the last four.

There is also some bad news for the Indian tennis fans. Leander Paes and his partner Meghann Shaughnessy of the US were knocked out of the mixed doubles at the Roland Garros.

The pair lost to Austria’s Julian Knowle and China’s Tiantian Sun in the quarter-finals in three sets. Though Paes and Shaughnessy took the first set 6-4, they lost the second set 4-6 and the decider in a tie-breaker 10-7

In the other men's doubles matches Mark Knowles of Bahamas and Daniel Nestor of Canada defeated German pair of Michael Kohlmann and Rainer Schuettler in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

Fabrice Santoro of France and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia got the better of Igor Kunitsyn and Dmitry Tursunovof Russia 6-4, 7-5 while Lukas Dlouhy and Pavel Vizner of the Czech Republic defeated Bob and Mike Bryan of the United States in three sets 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

Meanwhile, Nathalie Dechy of France and Andy Ram of Israel defeated South Africa-Zimbabwe pair of Liezel Huber and Kevin Ullyett 7-6 (5), 6-2.
