Hyderabad: As many as 300 people in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana succumbed to the blazing heatwave sweeping the country.
Telangana's Khammam district recorded the highest temperature of 48 degrees Celsius and in Andhra Pradesh's Vijaywada temperature soared to 47 degrees Celsius. 26 deaths have been reported in Odisha so far.
A resident of Hyderabad said, "This is the maximum heat we have seen, we have been advising children, citizens and women not to come out from 9:30 - 10 to the evening and they are doing so."
Delhiites on Saturday struggled to cope with the excruciating heat as the maximum hit this summer's highest at 44.5 degrees Celsius, five notches above the normal.
Amidst the infernal heat, the weatherman, however, hinted at the likelihood of some relief in the form of dust storms or thunderstorms on Sunday across northern India.
