MADURAI: A government school headmaster, accused of child abuse, was produced before the Judicial Magistrate Court through videoconferencing, here on Monday.Arockiasamy, the accused headmaster, was absconding since the report of the incident, surrendered before the court after the pressure exerted by the State on August 30. Later, he was remanded to judicial custody and the court ordered him to be produced before the court for further extension of the remand on Monday at Judicial Magistrate Court-4.Several girl students from the Podhumbu Government High School had levelled charges against the headmaster stating that he had misbehaved with them, and had also videographed them. As per court orders, the accused could not be produced in person before the court, and officials opted for videoconferencing. The case came up for hearing before Magistrate Sujatha of JM 6 who was in charge of JM 4.Meanwhile, the police had filed a petition seeking custody of the accused for eliciting more facts. The petition was posted for hearing on Tuesday, and the remand was extended by another day. The Magistrate passed orders to produce the accused before court on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Arockiasamy managed to surrender before the court without being noticed by the media, and the secrecy was maintained until he was removed from court before being lodged at Central Prison.
