Rohtak: Close on the heels of Apna Ghar scandal, a mentally challenged youth from Delhi was allegedly sodomised at an NGO-run institute, following which police have booked its warden on Sunday.
In his complaint, Navratan Sharma, father of the 22-year-old youth, said that he had taken his son to Delhi from the Shravan Institute when he complained about some health problem a few days ago, police said.
"My son Diwakar Sharma, during the medical treatment, disclosed that he was sodomised by warden of the Sharvan Institute," said Navratan in his complaint and demanded a stern action against the warden.
The institute has been imparting special education to mentally challenged children here for past several years.
"Sanjay Kumar, the warden, has been booked. We have started a probe into the matter and the accused will be arrested soon," said Sumit Kumar, Rohtak DSP, adding that medical examination of the victim would be done on Monday at PGIMS here.
Inmates of Apna Ghar, being run by NGO Bharat Vikas Sangh, were allegedly subjected to sexual abuse, physical and mental exploitation and were used as bonded labour.
A team of National Commission for Protection of Child Right (NCPCR) had rescued nearly 120 people, including children and women, from the house after carrying out a surprise raid here on May 9.
