Ahmedabad: A 52-year-old woman and her daughter were allegedly strangled to death by their respective husbands, following a discord between the daughter and her husband in Pasodara village of Kamrej taluka of Surat, police said on Sunday. After a heated argument, one Prakash Dobaria (34) with his father-in-law Vitthal Hirpara (55), allegedly killed his wife Payal (30) and her mother Chandrika Hirpara last night, the police said.
"Both Dobaria and Hirpara came to our police station last night and confessed to killing Payal and Chandrika. After their shocking revelation, we rushed to flat number 203 of Om Township in Pasodara and found dead bodies of both the women. We have lodged a case of murder and arrested them," Kamrej police inspector Lalit Vagadia said.
Dobaria and Payal have two sons from 12 years of marriage and used to live at Om Township, he said. Dobaria's mother-in-law Chandrika used live in Katargam area, while her husband and Dobaria's father-in-law, Vitthal, lived separately at Amroli road in Surat.
Chandrika had come to meet her daughter at her house in Pasodara last evening. Later, Payal's father Vitthal Hirpara also came to their house. "When all the four were present, Payal and Prakash fought over a marital issue. According to Prakash, Chandrika took Payal's side, while Vitthal took his side. In the heat of the moment, both Prakash and his father-in-law strangulated Payal and Chandrika," said the police official. The bodies have been sent for postmortem, police added.
