New Delhi: Hockey lovers, former players and fans alike, are set to take out a procession on Wednesday in the Capital to save Indian hockey from its governing body, the Indian Hockey Federation.

The IHF's running of the sport has been under immense scrutiny and has received a lot of flak following a series of failures in major competitions, more recently India's elimination from the Asian Games in Doha where it failed to even make it to the semi-finals for the first time in 48 years.

Olympians like Balbir Singh and Ashok Kumar will also feature in the procession to revive the sport along with other sportsmen. The rally will begin from Barakhamba Road to Jantar Mantar.

"We had planned the rally today coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the gold medal victory at the 1966 Bangkok Asian Games. But because of some administrative problems, we will do it tomorrow," K Arumugam of the Hockey Lovers' Association said. The rally was earlier planned for Tuesday.
