BANGALORE: Schools, colleges and anganwadi centres under the administration of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) are likely to come under the Education Department.Standing Committee Chairman Ramesh Raju confirmed that all the 144 schools, colleges and anganwadi centres run by the Palike will come under the administration of the state government.According to sources, BBMP is not financially stable to run these educational institutions and has requested the government to undertake them and maintain them on a par with other aided institutions.“I have no clue about what is happening at the government level. BBMP commissioner should be aware of the developments,” Raju said.Meanwhile, Shankarlinge Gowda said that the issue will come before the council meet where a decision will be taken on the issue. The Opposition has termed this initiative as failure on part of the ruling party. “Like last year, this financial year too, none of the projects assured will be implemented. The corporation has decided to give away its institutions, slowly they will pawn them also,” K Poornima, Congress corporator said. She added that the idea of giving away the Palike’s educational institutions to government will affect the value of education in corporation schools.“Deputy Mayor’s fund has been utilised for  various improvement  schemes in these schools. If the project is approved, we will stage a protest,” Poornima said.
