HYDERABAD: The state government is working towards launching a massive job creation scheme to give employment to 15 lakh youth by 2014. The scheme is pencilled for launch in August. In a departure from the Congress tradition of naming every welfare scheme after members of the Gandhi family, the job scheme will be called ‘Yuvakiranalu’.Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy during a review meeting on job creation at the Secretariat here on Thursday, said the staff are working out the modalities of the scheme including its structure and funding. All government departments, private companies and even corporate firms will be drafted to participate in the scheme to generate jobs for the unemployed. The primary objective of the scheme will be to ensure a job to at least one person in  every poor household, vest him or her with skills required by industry and assist them with placement. The chief minister wanted all departments to work in unison in fashioning the scheme and making it work. Officials at the review meet pointed out to the chief minister that the curious anomaly of there being a high degree of unemployment as well as huge demand for skilled personnel. This pointed to a lack of soft skills in rural, disadvantageous sections, lack of information of opportunities and skills needed by the industry and the service sector.Sources said Yuvakiranalu is a scaled-up version of Rajiv Udyogasri, which will involve all government departments.“Providing jobs to youths in such a large number is not possible through Rajiv Udyogasri. The new scheme is a much larger version,” the official sources said.Under Udyogasri, 13.77 lakh personnel were trained and 8.91 lakh got employment since 2007.The review meet was attended by chief secretary SV Prasad and other senior officials and ministers of the relevant departments - Vatti Vasantha Kumar, (tourism), D Nagender, (labour),V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, (women and child welfare minister) and P Bala Raju (tribal welfare minister).
