THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government is planning a piece of legislation for harvesting of organs from brain-dead patients, Health Minister Adoor Prakash told the Assembly on Monday. The piece of legislation will be planned on the lines of the one in Tamil Nadu, he said in reply to a question. To a question whether the government would establish a data bank of potential donors, the Minister said that the Human Organ Transplantation Act passed by the Centre did not allow it.LAW TO CURB MALPRACTICES A Kerala Clinical Establishments (Registration, Regulation, Accreditation) Bill to regulate the activities of hospitals, nursing homes and laboratories in the private sector will be introduced, the Health Minister told the Assembly. He was replying to a question by M P Abdusamad Samadani. The Bill will help curb several malpractices existing in the sector, the minister said. ‘‘Clinical labs now collect different fee for the same tests. There is a need to standardise the fee,’’ he said.
