Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday said the rescue operations have resumed but there were no chances of any survivors. An unconstructed building collapsed on Saturday in Canacona that left 18 people dead. Around 21 people have been rescued but many were feared to be trapped.
Parrikar said, "Rescue operations resume after being halted on Monday, but there are no hope of any survivors at this stage."
Rescue work was halted on Monday after two adjacent buildings tilted precariously. No heavy equipment is being used as of now. Parrikar said, "Manual rescue operations will continue and the adjacent buildings will be demolished."
South Goa Police have issued a lookout notice against the builder and contractor who have been absconding since an FIR was filed against them. Deputy Town planner Prakash Bandodkar was arrested on Monday.
Parrikar also blamed the Congress of politicising the issue.
