New Delhi: Even as the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has come up with the that scolding a child in school is emotional abuse, a shocking case of corporal punishment came to light in Gurgaon on Friday.
A female student at the Senior Secondary School in Gurgaon is in hospital after she was allegedly beaten up by her teacher.
The eighth standard student alleges her teacher punished her as she failed to answer some questions she was asked in class.
The accused teacher is missing after the incident, but the school authorities claim the student was not beaten up at all.
Meanwhile, the local police have registered an FIR against the teacher.
"I got a call to say that my daughter was hurt. She was unconscious when I reached the school and the teacher had run away by then. I admitted her to the hospital," says the student's father, Rohtash Yadav.
