New Delhi: Bollywood film producer Prerna Arora has reportedly been arrested for her alleged involvement in a fraud of Rs 16 crore. She was taken into custody on the night of December 7 by Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch, Mumbai Police.

Multiple passports and PAN cards were also recovered from her possession, The Times of India reported.

Arora was produced in Mumbai’s Esplande Court later. After hearing the case, the court ordered Arora to be detained in EOW’s custody till December 10. The court will hear the matter again on Monday for further proceedings.

Arora has produced Bollywood films like Rustom, Toilet Ek Prem Katha, PadMan and Pari. She has been embroiled in various controversies.

The High Court had reportedly directed the police to take action against Arora after an FIR was filed by Puja Films in July. Complaints were made against her over a period of time by various entities that she and her company have had business relations with.

She was also involved in controversies over films like Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, Fanney Khan, Batti Gul Meter Chalu.

She had an argument with Kedarnath director and producer Abhishek Kapoor. Arora had accused him of wasting resources during the shooting. Kapoor had countered the claim by accusing her of non-payment of dues.
