BANGALORE: When a name like Girish Kasarvalli is a part of the organising committee of a film festival, it can hardly go unnoticed. With eleven national awards to his credit, the legendary director needs no introduction.But, what certainly needs an introduction is the first edition of a non-competitive international film festival called the Film Harvest-2012 which will be showcasing a variety of films from established and non-established filmmakers around the world. Srinivasa Santhanum, organiser of the Chennai, Pune and the Lucknow Film Festival will be the advisor for Film Harvest this year.The screening of films will take place at the UB City amphitheatre from March 16 to 20.Day one will witness a grand opening ceremony with a performance by 30 musicians from around the world and it will be directed by Ricky Kej.Movies like Tree of Life, The Kid with a Bike and a movie by Festival Director Girish Kasarvalli and many others will be screened too. Girish Kasarvalli said, “Bangalore is a city of film lovers where people like to watch serious cinema.Since we haven’t got our quota of international films, we are back with vengeance.The festival will be held in a mall and the screenings are post 6 pm, so that its accessible and people can finish their work and come to watch some good movies.” The festival has a one-time registration fees of Rs 700.
