BANGALORE: The Jain University, Centre for Management Studies, conducted a three-day inter-collegiate media fest named ‘Twrinetra’ from February 27 to 29 which was conducted by Mass Communication Department. The fest consisted of various media related contests like advertisement, photography which drew the attention of media students from across the city who thronged at the venue to showcase their talents.The first two-day events which were held in the college saw students’ enthusiastic participation to file their entries and to take part in various specialised events. Over 200 students from various colleges participated in the event to display their talents. The final day event was held at Atria Hotel which was inaugurated by film director T S Nagabharana, Pawan Kumar, director of the film Lifu Istenne and B Suresh, producer of Kannada films.Speaking at the event Nagabharana widely focused on the difficulties that the journalists are facing in the present generation. He said, “Journalism on the wider spectrum is not an easy job, however the pace with which the journalists are providing news is tremendous and have still retained the position of the fourth estate.”Producer B Suresh, told that communication skills are of the prime importance for media students. Speaking about the print media he said, “Print media can have impact on the minds of readers as it describes the incident or situation in a pictorial manner that catches the attention of the reader”. He also emphasised on the fact that ‘the journalists should be called as the interpreters of information.’ “Interpreting information is very important because it might convey a different message,” said Pawan Kumar. However, he also said that with the advent of new media the information spreads faster. The fest concluded by announcing the winners of the event. However, St Joseph’s College of Arts and Science emerged as the overall champions and bagged the trophy.
